One of the first and most well-known traditional restaurants in Addis Abeba, YOD Abyssinia Traditional Restaurant was founded in 2003. It proudly promotes Ethiopian hospitality through a variety of dishes, ethnic dance, and music. The owner, Ato Tizazu Kore, comes from the Gurage ethnic group, where the word “YOD” means “witness or speak out.” Moreover, Ethiopia and the area presently known as the Horn of Africa were both known as “Abyssinia” in ancient times.
